I was born in England and after school trained as a radiographer. When I completed my training I moved to Zimbabwe where I lived for the next 20 plus years. I continued working in the medical field in a variety of roles, including Computer Manager, Administration Manager and General Manager of a private hospital, until leaving to live in New Zealand 9 years ago.
I’ve always been interested in technology and I learnt a lot by trying things out, both hardware and software. I set up an accounting system at the hospital where I worked, which included physically networking computers, installing software and training staff.
When we came to live in New Zealand, I finally got an opportunity to start studying towards a Bachelor of Information Sciences as a distance student with Massey University.
It’s not easy working full-time and studying as well, but I believe in finishing what I start so I’m persevering! I’m a bit over two-thirds of the way through now so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
This blog is part of my study for a Social Media Networks for Business course and it’s the first time I’ve ever written a blog so I’m looking forward to learning more.
